How this is worked out
- Hours covered a week = hours at the desk a day × days a week.
- Hours not covered a week = 168 − hours covered (168 is 24 hours × 7 days).
- Cost per covered hour = monthly salary ÷ (hours covered a week × 52 ÷ 12). 52 ÷ 12, about 4.33, is the average number of weeks in a month.
- After-hours enquiries a month = enquiries a week × 52 ÷ 12, rounded to a whole number.
- The most they could be worth = enquiries a month × average treatment value.
- Visits that cover ₹4,999 = ₹4,999 ÷ average treatment value, rounded up.
- Medslots per hour = ₹4,999 ÷ 728 (168 hours × 52 ÷ 12).

Why cost per covered hour and not cost per hour?
Because a salary only buys the hours someone is at the desk. Spreading it over covered hours shows what each staffed hour really costs, and the hours not covered show when nobody is there to answer.
