Does your clinic need a Justdial listing, and how does it actually work?
Updated 7 min readFacts checked
Justdial's basic listing is free: add your clinic's phone, address and category, verify by OTP, and it usually goes live in 24 to 48 hours. Paid plans add featured placement, banner ads and lead tools, priced case by case. Whether a small clinic needs one depends on whether patients in your area actually search Justdial.
Key takeaways
- Justdial's basic listing is free: phone, address and category, verified by OTP, live in about 24 to 48 hours. Many clinics already have an auto-generated listing waiting to be claimed rather than created fresh.
- Paid plans (featured placement, banner ads, lead packages, and the newer JD Sixer Pack lead-management tools launched 27 Mar 2026) exist, but Justdial does not publish a fixed price list. Independent guides estimate paid packages from roughly ₹3,000 to over ₹15,000 a month depending on the plan and city; ask any sales rep for the exact figure in writing.
- A Justdial listing can rank in Google search on its own, but AI answer tools recommend far fewer local businesses overall than Google's own local results do (1.2% on ChatGPT, 7.4% on Perplexity, 35.9% in Google's local 3-pack, per SOCi's 2026 Local Visibility Index). Treat one listing as part of a wider footprint, not the thing that decides AI visibility.
- Some business owners report low-quality leads and slow support after paying for a package, per reviews on Trustpilot. Get any promised outcome, price and contract length in writing before paying.
- A call or enquiry through a free listing reaches you as a call or lead notification from Justdial's own system, the same pattern as Practo and other directories, not a direct line to your desk.

A front-desk manager who has never touched Google Business Profile has usually still heard of Justdial. It is free to get listed, patients already search it, and it is easy to confuse with the paid promotion sold on the same site. Here is what the free listing actually does, what a paid plan adds, and where it fits next to the rest of your online presence.
What is a Justdial listing for a clinic?
A Justdial listing is an entry in Justdial's own directory, searchable by category, specialty and city, that shows a business's name, address, phone number and, once added, hours, services, photos and reviews. Justdial is a large, established directory: as of the quarter ended 30 Jun 2026 it reported 192.9 million quarterly unique users across web, mobile and voice, 56.1 million active listings and 160.5 million ratings and reviews, according to Justdial's own reported quarterly numbers (opens in a new tab). That scale is why the listing is worth understanding, not a reason to assume every clinic needs the paid version of it.
A basic listing and a paid plan are two different things sold on the same platform, and mixing them up is the most common confusion. The rest of this page keeps them separate.
How does the free listing actually work?
Creating or claiming a free listing costs nothing and takes a handful of steps, most of them the same information you already have on your Google Business Profile.
Step 1: Search your clinic's name and city on Justdial first
Justdial builds listings from public information, so yours may already exist unclaimed.Step 2: Claim it, or start a new listing
Use the claim option if one already exists, rather than creating a duplicate.Step 3: Verify your phone number by OTP
This is what proves you run the business, not just that you know the details.Step 4: Add category, address, hours and description
Pick the specific specialty category, not a generic one, so the right searches find you.Step 5: Add photos and services
Optional, but listings with more complete profiles are shown to rank higher inside Justdial's own search.
Verification typically takes 24 to 48 hours before the listing goes live, per Justdial's own free-listing page (opens in a new tab) and an independent step-by-step guide to the process (opens in a new tab). There is no cost and no limit on how many times you can update it afterwards.
What do Justdial's paid plans add?
Paid plans sit on top of the free listing rather than replacing it. Justdial's own advertise page describes featured listings, banner ads and lead packages as its paid products, and in March 2026 it added a bundle of business-management tools under the name JD Sixer Pack.
| Free listing | Paid plans | |
|---|---|---|
| How you get it | Add or claim it yourself | Bought as a package from a Justdial sales representative |
| What it typically includes | Name, phone, address, category, hours, description, photos | Featured or priority placement, banner ads, lead packages, and JD Sixer Pack tools (leads dashboard, review management, performance dashboard) |
| Where it appears | Justdial's normal category search results | Higher placement within the same results, sometimes shown as sponsored |
| Price | ₹0 | Not published by Justdial; ask for a written quote |
| Contract | None | Sold as a monthly or fixed-term package |

Justdial's own announcement of JD Sixer Pack (opens in a new tab) quotes its chief business officer describing the aim as helping merchants "manage their business seamlessly from one place". That is worth knowing before a sales call, since a plan pitched around these newer tools is a different offer from plain featured placement, even if both get called a "package".
How does a Justdial listing show up in Google and AI answers?
A Justdial listing is a real, indexable page, so Justdial's own category pages for a specialty and city can appear in Google's regular search results alongside your Google Business Profile and your website. That is a genuine benefit of the free listing: it is one more page carrying your clinic's name, address and phone number that Google can find.
AI answer tools are a different story, and worth being realistic about. They currently recommend far fewer local businesses overall than Google's own local results do, whatever platform those businesses are listed on.
| Platform | Share of locations shown |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT | 1.2% |
| Perplexity | 7.4% |
| Gemini | 11.0% |
| Google local 3-pack | 35.9% |
Source: SOCi: How to rank in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overview (2026 Local Visibility Index) (checked 17 Sep 2026).From SOCi's 2026 Local Visibility Index, published 25 Mar 2026. These figures cover local businesses generally, not Justdial listings specifically, but they explain why one listing on any single directory is not a shortcut to AI visibility.
What does help is consistency across several places at once, Justdial included. One healthcare marketing agency's own test across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Mode, run April to June 2026, found a clinic with a strong Practo listing and consistent details across more than 30 directories was recommended more often than a competitor with a better website but a footprint in only a handful of places, according to DoubleSure's published write-up of the test (opens in a new tab). That write-up names Justdial as one of the directories worth claiming and keeping current for this exact reason, alongside Practo and others. Our guide comparing a Practo or Justdial profile with your own website covers the same test in more depth.
How do you keep a Justdial listing consistent with everything else?
Justdial, Google and your own website are three separate systems with no shared login, so a change on one never updates the others by itself. A tool building an AI answer from several pages that disagree treats that disagreement as a reason for caution, per Google's own guidelines for representing a business (opens in a new tab) and the DoubleSure test above. A patient who sees a different phone number on Justdial than on your website loses a little trust too.

How do enquiries and calls from Justdial actually reach you?
This is the part a feature list skips: once a patient acts on what they see, where does the message actually go? On a free listing, a patient calls the number shown or sends an enquiry through the listing, and it reaches the clinic as a call or a lead notification through Justdial's own system rather than as a direct dial, the same pattern as Practo and most directories.
If a clinic has switched on Justdial's newer business tools, that same enquiry also lands in a Leads Dashboard alongside enquiries from other sources, with basic follow-up features such as notes and reminders, per Justdial's own description of JD Sixer Pack (opens in a new tab). Without that, a Justdial call is just another call arriving at the same front desk that already handles walk-ins and phone enquiries, worth counting alongside them rather than tracking separately.
- A missed call from Justdial is still a missed call. Whoever answers your main line handles it the same way as any other enquiry.
- Clinical questions in a Justdial message still go to the doctor. A directory listing doesn't change who is qualified to answer them.
- A patient who calls from Justdial outside clinic hours gets the same silence a walk-in would. The listing brings the enquiry in; it doesn't answer it.
Does a small clinic need a Justdial listing?
Since the basic listing is free, the honest answer for most clinics is that there is little reason not to have one, claimed and correct, alongside your Google Business Profile. The harder decision is whether to pay for anything beyond that.
- Search your own clinic and city on Justdial first. If patients in your area actually use it, or a listing already exists with wrong details, that settles whether the free listing is worth ten minutes of your time.
- Hold off on a paid plan until you have a written quote. Justdial doesn't publish set prices, so ask what a plan costs for your city and specialty, what it includes by name, and how long the contract runs, before agreeing to anything.
- Don't expect one listing to carry your AI visibility. A Justdial listing is one page among the several an AI tool may read about your clinic. Keeping it consistent with your Google profile and website matters more than paying to be featured on it.
None of this is a case against Justdial. It is a large, real directory that costs nothing to appear on for free, and that is usually reason enough to claim your listing and keep it correct. Read our guide to Google Business Profile for doctors if that's not set up yet, since it carries more weight for most clinics than any directory listing does, or see how a Justdial listing compares with managing reviews and reputation across every platform patients check.

Common questions
Is a Justdial listing free for a clinic?
The basic listing is free: add your clinic's phone number, address and category, verify by OTP, and it typically goes live in 24 to 48 hours. Justdial separately sells paid promotion such as featured listings, banner ads and lead packages, priced case by case rather than off a published rate card. Checked 17 Sep 2026.
What does Justdial's paid plan include for a clinic?
Justdial's own advertise page names featured listings (higher placement in search results), banner ads and lead packages. It has also rolled out JD Sixer Pack, a set of tools including a leads dashboard, review management and a business performance dashboard, from 27 Mar 2026. Justdial does not publish a price list; independent guides estimate paid packages from around ₹3,000 to over ₹15,000 a month, so get a written quote for your city and plan.
Does a Justdial listing help a clinic show up in ChatGPT or Google's AI answers?
It can be one of the pages an AI tool reads about your clinic, but AI answer engines recommend far fewer local businesses overall than Google's own local results do, so one listing is not a shortcut to AI visibility. One agency's own test found a clinic with consistent details across many directories, Justdial included, was mentioned more often than a clinic with a stronger website but a thin footprint elsewhere. Consistency across places matters more than which single place you're on.
My clinic already shows up on Justdial even though nobody added it. What happened?
Justdial builds listings from publicly available business information, so a clinic can appear before anyone from it has logged in. Search your clinic's name and city, and if a listing already exists, use the claim option and verify your phone number by OTP rather than creating a second, duplicate listing.
Do calls or messages from a Justdial listing reach my clinic directly?
An enquiry typically reaches you as a call or a lead notification through Justdial's own system, not a direct dial to your desk. Justdial's newer business app adds a leads dashboard to collect these in one place if you switch it on.
Is Medslots a directory listing like Justdial?
No. Medslots doesn't list your clinic on a marketplace or sell paid placement. It's a WhatsApp AI receptionist that replies to patients who message your clinic directly and books the appointment, and it keeps your Google Business Profile current. It costs ₹4,999 a month per clinic, with no setup fee.
